Elaine Douvas has been principal oboe of the Metropolitan Opera since 1977 and oboe instructor at The Juilliard School for twenty-five years. She has also served as principal oboe of the Aspen Festival Orchestra and oboe instructor for the Aspen School of Music since 1997. As a soloist, Ms. Douvas recently performed the Strauss Oboe Concerto with the MET Orchestra in Carnegie Hall, James Levine conducting, and as a guest artist at the Eastern Music Festival. Her 2003 solo CD, containing works of Ravel, Schumann, Howells, Dutilleux, Goosens, and Roslavets, is issued by Boston Records. Elaine Douvas has been principal oboe of the Metropolitan Opera orchestra since 1977 and is Chairman of the Woodwind Department at the Juilliard School. Since 1997 she has served as principal oboe of the Aspen Festival Orchestra and oboe instructor for the Aspen School of Music. A devoted teacher, Ms. Douvas’ students hold important positions in a dozen major orchestras and university faculties. Teachers and students across the country use her three written albums of demonstrations and written commentary for Music Minus One. |

Accommodations: Wright Hall is our 20 room, single story, on-campus residence hall. Rooms with private bath open to an outside covered walk.
